I thouhgt I just was getting a cold with sore throat ....When the hoarseness persisted and I completely lost my voice ...I knew something was wrong....Local ENT Doctor took biopsy and at first thought it was cancer...after running more tests ...they knew it was not cancer...More biopsys at...Sansum Clinic, Santa Barbara, CA, UCLA, Los Angeles, CA., Mayo Clinic, Scottsdale, Ar., and finally at USF Hospital, San Francisco, CA. After, at least one year of testing ...it was confirmed Amyloidosis of the vocal cords. Dr. Dedo at USF repaired my vocal cords and I was able to recover some of my voice....much better than a whisper....some of the symptoms are now re-occurring which has prompted me to seek more information per this website....
