Defeating Amyloidosis One Stroke, Peddle and Step at a time!!
Paul’s Posse is a team of 43 triathletes who have joined forces to compete in the New York City Triathlon on July 18, 2010 to raise money for the Amyloidosis Foundation in honor of Paul Andrew Hawthorne.
Paul died in December 2008 due to complications from AL (primary) amyloidosis, a rare disease in which one or more organs accumulate deposits of abnormal proteins leading to organ failure. Paul was a loving husband, proud father, talented photojournalist and a loyal friend. Although Paul lost his fight with amyloidosis, others are still fighting. They are fathers, mothers, grandparents, sons and daughters who have this rare disorder with no known cause or cure. Paul’s Posse wants to help them and the professionals dedicated to treating them. The members of Paul’s Posse thank you for your generosity and for helping them take important steps toward stopping amyloidosis.
